COORDINATION GUIDE

Separate a connected route from a feasible route.

Identify equipment, background control, elevations, receiving connections, and service interfaces before treating a route as resolved.

The decision to clarifyWhat evidence is still needed to turn the proposed route into a coordinated design basis?

Before the first review

Establish what belongs in the active layout.

Questions to bring to the review
  1. Which equipment remains active, which is new, and which is being demolished?
  2. Is the reference a controlled drawing, a survey, a layout image, or a diagram? What can its geometry actually establish?
  3. Where is the proposed receiving connection, and which location and elevation information is available?

Bring to the conversation

Bring a current architectural background and the available mechanical layout. State the source and limits of each reference.

Keep the limit clearAn image placed over a drawing is not automatically field control or a verified equipment location.

As information develops

Review continuity and physical feasibility as separate questions.

Questions to bring to the review
  1. Can the proposed branches and collector be followed continuously, including their receiving connection?
  2. Which outlet elevations, usable gravity fall, obstructions, and maintenance clearances still need confirmation?
  3. Who will confirm equipment-specific trap, pressure, and secondary-protection requirements?

Bring to the conversation

Show the proposed network and its unresolved interfaces on a reviewable drawing. Keep the architectural reference intact and identify assumptions.

Keep the limit clearA connected drawing can pass a continuity check while elevation, hydraulic, equipment, or field constraints remain unresolved.

Before the next issue

Reconcile the route against the information received.

Questions to bring to the review
  1. Have equipment positions and outlets been reconciled with the current mechanical information?
  2. Are the receiving connection, service provisions, and required clearances represented consistently?
  3. Which feasibility questions were actually answered, and which must remain identified as holds?

Bring to the conversation

Issue a drawing that communicates its purpose, verification state, and outstanding interfaces. Distinguish a progress overlay from a completed design.

Keep the limit clearDrawing integrity and editable geometry do not establish field verification, permit acceptance, or installation.

NEXT CONVERSATION

Make the open question specific.

Use the brief to identify the next decision, the supporting information, and the role needed to resolve an input. Confirm the requirements and responsibilities for your particular project.
